This is what our garden looks like right now. A jungle! We've eaten quite a bit out of it, but not as much as we thought we would. Our scorching hot temps all summer probably had a lot to do with it. Thankfully, it is not done yet. We're still getting tomatoes, lettuce, chard, sweet potatoes, and herbs, and I'm in the process of planting Chinese cabbage, peas, lettuce & spinach. The girls also got ahold of the seed bucket, so who knows what else is in the ground! It's been a work in progress, but worth all the prep work that went into it.
This month we built our new "driveway Garden." It's a 16'x32' area right in front of the house, with 286 sq. ft. of raised beds. It's fenced to keep cats, dogs, and chickens out, and it looks AWESOME!
So far I've planted: Cabbage, Red Leaf Lettuce, Romaine, Spinach, Swiss Chard, Red Onions, Yellow Onions, and Marigolds.
Once the rain lets up I also have 24 asparagus plants to put in, and I hope to find 24 more.
